Man Charged with Attempted Murder

UPDATED Shortly after 10PM Halifax Regional Police responded to a stabbing on Spring Garden Road near Dresden Row.

The victim was standing on the street when he was approached by the suspect who stabbed him repeatedly in the upper body.
The suspect then fled the area, a concerned citizen drove the victim to the QE2. The victim was treated for life threatening injuries and remains in hospital. Members of the Integrated General Investigation Section and FIS attended the scene and are continuing the investigation.

 

The suspect and victim are known to each other. Presently Police are still actively trying to locate the suspect who will be facing charges of attempted murder and weapons offences.

Investigators with the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have arrested a man in connection to a stabbing that occurred this past weekend in Halifax.

On April 13, shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing in the 5600 block of Spring Garden Road. Investigators learned that the 38-year-old male victim was standing on the sidewalk when he was approached by the suspect who stabbed him repeatedly in the upper body. The suspect fled the area and a concerned citizen drove the victim to hospital. The victim was treated for life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital. This is not a random act as the victim and the suspect know each other.

This afternoon, investigators arrested a 38-year-old Halifax man in relation to this investigation. He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and three counts of breaching a court order. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow.
