A Halifax Regional Police (HRP) officer faces a criminal charge as a result of an incident that occurred earlier this month in Lower Vaughan.
On May 4, Windsor RCMP responded to an assault complaint in the Lower Vaughan area involving an off-duty HRP officer. As a result of their investigation, they have charged 45-year-old Constable Daniel Kavanaugh with assault.
Constable Kavanaugh, who has been with HRP for 6 years, is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on June 18. Constable Kavanaugh will remain on active duty pending an internal review of the incident.
