On Scene: Alleged Drunk Driver Knocks Out Power To Thousands

At 12:30 AM on duty officers heard what sounded like an accident in the area of Oxford St and South St.  Members responded to the accident and noted a vehicle on the sidewalk at the intersection of Oxford St and South St.  The occupants of the vehicle had exited the vehicle and were in the area of the accident and were quickly identified.  All occupants were assessed by EHS and there were no injuries that required hospital treatment.
 
The vehicle involved in this accident was travelling North on Beaufort Ave towards Oxford St when it struck a power pole on the west side of the roadway causing damage to the power pole. The vehicle continued to travel North on Beaufort Ave striking another power pole at the intersection on Oxford St and South St. The vehicle came to a rest at this point.  Power was affected in the area as a result of the accident. Police have cleared the scene  however the accident area is still closed as Nova Scotia Power is working at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, will be facing impaired driving charges and appearing in court at a later date.
