Antigonish County District RCMP investigate break, enter and thefts, Antigonish, N.S.

Antigonish County District RCMP is currently investigating 14 break, enter and theft-related crimes.

Throughout this past weekend, Antigonish County District RCMP responded to break, enter and theft complaints from the communities of Afton, Havre Boucher, Monastery, Harbour Centre and Antigonish.

Most of the crimes occurred overnight or in the early morning hours. In three of these cases, a suspect attempted to gain or gained entry to residences while the occupants of the residence were at home asleep. In other cases, vehicles, sheds or outbuildings were broken into resulting in the theft of property or cash.
Two vehicles were also stolen last night or early this morning. Police are currently looking for a 2007 Blue Chevrolet Colbat, FNU 925, stolen from the Afton area and a 2006 Green GMC Sierra, EDT 251, stolen from a construction site near Taylor’s Road.

Antigonish County District RCMP are actively investigating these events. RCMP would like to emphasize that some of these events appear to be crimes of opportunity where buildings or vehicles have been left unlocked. Police would encourage residents of Antigonish County to ensure they lock their vehicles, sheds and buildings and to please report any suspicious activity immediately to police by calling 911. As well, if you see the above stolen vehicles, please call 911 to report.
