Arrest and charges in shots fired incident in North Preston

Investigators with the General Investigation Section (GIS) of the Integrated Criminal Division have arrested and charged a man for the August 5, 2018 shooting that occurred on Downey Rd. At the time, a silver car was observed firing multiple gunshots towards a home.  No one was injured.

On August 15, 2018 at approximately 3:30 p.m., 24-year-old Cambridge Jecoby Downey known as Colby Downey was arrested in Preston by Halifax District members and then turned over to GIS investigators.

He is charged with the following offences:

  • Discharge Firearm – Cause Bodily Harm – Intent
  • Intentionally Discharge Firearm While Being Reckless
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Restricted Weapon, or a Prohibited Device
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing Possession Is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Downey appeared in court on August 16, 2018 and was released on conditions. His next court appearance is September 20, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing.
