Attempted murder charges after woman stabbed during altercation

Shelburne RCMP Detachment has charged a woman with Attempt to Commit Murder following a serious incident in Shelburne.

Yesterday, at approximately 10 p.m., Shelburne RCMP Detachment and EHS responded to a report of a stabbing on King St. near the 100 block.

When RCMP officers arrived a group of men were outside a nearby home. RCMP officers learned that two women known to one another were involved in a verbal altercation, outside of a residence, when one of two stabbed the other with a knife.

The victim, a 26-year-old Welshtown woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

A short time later, RCMP officers located and safely arrested a 31-year-old Shelburne woman inside a nearby home.

An outdoor search of the area followed, with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, during which RCMP officers located and seized a knife believed to have been used by the woman.

Sabrina Lynn Marie Urquhart, 31, has been charged with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Aggravated Assault

Urquhart was remanded into custody and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on May 13, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
