Attempted murder charges after woman stabbed in vehicle

A 23-year-old woman, Emily Leudy of New Waterford, has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Little Harbour, Pictou County.

On the evening of October 3, 2023, around 8:20 p.m., the New Glasgow Regional Police (NGRP) were alerted to a woman with stab wounds arriving at a New Glasgow hospital. Around the same time, they received a report about a suspicious individual on Dalhousie St. in New Glasgow. This individual was identified as the stabbing suspect, Emily Leudy, and was promptly arrested without incident.

Initial investigations revealed that the stabbing took place in Little Harbour. The victim, a 35-year-old woman, had been in a vehicle with Leudy and a 32-year-old man on Little Harbour Rd. It was during this time that Leudy allegedly stabbed the victim, causing serious but non-fatal injuries. After the incident, Leudy fled the scene, while the man drove the injured woman to the hospital, leading to the call to NGRP.

Following the arrest, the case was handed over to the Pictou County District RCMP. They confirmed that after the incident, the suspect was transferred to their custody and remains detained. The victim has since been discharged from the hospital.

Emily Leudy faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. She is set to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on October 11, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. The investigation continues.
