Bedford Blues Female Bantam A team needs your help

The Bedford Blues Female Bantam A Hockey team is having a BBQ at the new BMO four pad arena complex on Saturday, November 6, opening weekend.

As the opening of this sports facility is such a major step for Bedford on the road to meeting our community’s recreational needs the team is very pleased to be able to add to the festivities with a BBQ outside the main entrance from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

They anticipate lots of people traffic and excitement that day and are trying to promote their BBQ as a way to heighten that enjoyment. The team is also proud that this event is sponsored by the Bedford Blues Bantam Female A Hockey Team as female hockey is a significant part of the hockey society in our area. It is great to have another opportunity to promote this wonderful sport for girls to people in our community.

The team is hoping to raise funds to be used for extra ice times, tournament entrance fees, equipment, training, etc. The girls are really keen to develop their skills and their parents are committed to offering them every opportunity available to accomplish this.

Female Hockey in Nova Scotia is rapidly gaining in popularity, and Bedford is fortunate to have an active female hockey program led by many dedicated volunteers.

It has become a very competitive and fun activity for young girls in the community where they learn the value of hard work, team play, good sportsmanship and leadership.

In order to provide support for the game and the development of these values, the team is asking for donations of items that can be used in their fundraising endeavours.

Currently they are looking for interesting and desirable items to include as prizes in their ticket sales campaign and are hoping that you are able to assist in these efforts with a contribution.

For more information and to donate items please contact Bernadeen O’Neil (Bedford Blues Female Bantam A Fundraising Committee) at 832-0799.
