Bedford Residents Association clarifies itself

For your information, the Bedford Community Council Association has ceased to exist. As a single-item Association, it unfortunately did not have the membership required to effectively pursue the issue.

We were fortunate, however, to be heard and the issue of effective local governance for communities is being investigated by the Halifax Regional Municipality.

The misinformation we must clarify is the fact that some believe that the new Bedford Residents Association is just a name change and that the Bedford Community Council Association members are now members of the Bedford Residents Association. This is incorrect.

Although there is some overlap of members, the Bedford Residents Association is an entirely new Association. The Association’s mission is “to strive to improve the quality of life for residents and encourage a sense of belonging and pride in our community.”

There are presently four goals and we are in the process of building our membership and having residents complete a survey which is available on-line at www.bedfordresidentsassociation.ca.

Alternatively, you can contact the Association to receive a paper copy of the survey and to obtain additional information on membership.
