Break and Enter – UPDATE

Halifax Regional Police request the public’s assistance in locating stolen property from a break and enter that occurred earlier this morning.

At 12:50 a.m., officers responded to Studio 14 gift store, located at 2393 Agricola Street, for a report of a break and enter in progress. A local resident heard glass breaking and observed a man remove property from the business. Officers contained the area and approximately 30 minutes later observed a man matching the description provided by the witness. The suspect was located on West Street and ran away from officers. He was arrested a short distance later on the Halifax Common with the assistance of a K-9 unit. A 46-year-old Halifax man is facing a charge of break and enter, two counts of breaching a probation order and two counts of breaching a recognizance. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today. The stolen cash was also recovered.

Police request the public’s assistance in locating the following items that the suspect was seen removing from the business:

–        Older model off-white Casio electronic cash register

–        Red backpack

Police advises citizens to call 490-5020 if they have information about the location of these items and to refrain from touching them.
