In my province of Alberta there is no provincial law on booster seats {children over 6 years old OR who are over 40lbs are not required to be in a car seat anymore} but it’s recommended that children until the age of 9 or up to 80lbs be in a booster seat. I’m not entirely sure why almost every other province in Canada has made it a law…but even though it’s not here, our children will be in a booster seat for as long as they can be! Safety first!
The Britax Frontier 85 SICT is for children 2 and up, 25lbs – 120lbs. Yes, you read that right – this car seat will comfortably fit a 5’4, 120lbs child. Here’s my big boy thinking hard about what to buy with his treat money sitting comfortably in his new seat.
Britax has always been a leader when it comes to car seats and it’s really not even a question as to why. But I’m going to tell you anyhow. They are beyond committed to child car seat safety and their products continually exceed safety standards. The data, reviews, pictures and videos are there for everyone to see, but it’s when you actually have a Britax car seat installed in your car and see your children perfectly comfortable, that you realize precisely why Britax car seats are as popular as they are. This thing is heavy duty. It’s an impressive car seat that has a laundry list of features including new Side Impact Cushion Technology. No other car seat brand other than Britax offers this level of protection. It has high density foam as an added layer of protective padding for your child, the secure guard safety belt prevents your child from slipping under the lap-belt during impact, there are 10 harness height adjustments and it even has two cup holders that are large enough to fit a reusable 20 oz water bottle.
It’s available in 3 different colors, Cardinal, Onyx and Portobello:
The Frontier 85 SICT comes with all the Britax convenience features we expected including tangle-free straps and arm rests for tired little arms to name a few. Others include:
Quick-Adjust Harness
A quick-adjust harness repositions the harness shoulder height without disassembling the harness straps.
Premium Lower LATCH Connectors
Britax premium lower LATCH connectors allow for a quick and simple installation, and feature a push button for easy release. This turns a 20 minute fight to get the seat installed properly to a less than 5 minutes endeavor 😉
Easy-Remove Covers
The latest Britax convertible car seats feature an Easy-Remove Cover, allowing you to remove the cover without disassembling the harness.
As you can see in the picture, Aidan has a lot of growing room in his new car seat and he’s really enjoying all the extra comfy space he has in this “big boy” car seat. If your little one isn’t quite ready for the Frontier 85 SICT, here’s my review of the Marathon 70 Convertible car seat with lots of pictures.
