Campbell Canada brings hunger awareness to Halifax

On June 9, 2011 Haligonians can support FEED NOVA SCOTIA by participating in a local Help Hunger Disappear event.

A large-scale display featuring the word “HUNGER” built out of 3,600 Campbell’s soup cans will be on display at the new Bedford South Sobeys (located at 55 Peakview Drive).

Visitors, which may include local dignitaries and VIPs, will be urged to remove cans one-by-one (at no cost) until the word “HUNGER” literally disappears. They will also be provided with bags to fill up with the food bank’s most needed items. At the end of the day, all cans will be donated to FEED NOVA SCOTIA.

Throughout June, Campbell Company of Canada will donate up to 15,000 cans of Campbell’s Condensed Vegetable Soup to Food Banks Canada through in-store Help Hunger Disappear activities.

Almost 900,000 Canadians rely on their local food bank every month – in Nova Scotia alone, at least 40,000 people receive food assistance each month through food banks and meal programs.
