Canada Day Waste, Organics & Recyclables Collection Notice

Tuesday, June 24, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality would like to remind residents that there will be no regular municipal solid waste collection services on Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1.

Curbside collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for that Tuesday will happen the weekend before, on Saturday, June 28.

Collection services can begin as early as 7 a.m. To ensure collection, residents should place materials curbside the evening before collection day.

Residents are advised that the Otter Lake Waste Management Facility and the municipal recycling plant will be closed on Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1, but will be open regular hours on Saturday, June 28. The municipal Household Special Waste (HSW) Depot at 20 Horseshoe Lake Dr. will be closed on Saturday, June 28, but will be open the following Saturday, July 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information on municipal composting and recycling programs, residents can check the 2014 green cart and garbage collection schedule that was mailed out earlier this year, or go online at www.halifax.ca/recycle.
