Canada Games Oval Grand Opening Postponed

News Release:
(Tuesday, December 14, 2010) – The Grand Opening for the Canada Games
Oval on the North Common, previously scheduled for Wednesday, December
15th at 5 p.m., has been postponed until further notice. Due to
unseasonably high temperatures and rainfall amounts over the past few
days, the ice is not suitable for skating.

HRM Operations staff is currently working to restore the ice surface as
soon as possible. Details for the rescheduled Grand Opening and the
first public skate will be released shortly.  All public skating
previously scheduled is also postponed until further notice. Visit
skatehrm.ca or call the information line at 490-2347 for updates.

The Canada Games Oval will be the largest artificial ice surface east
of Quebec City and will be featured as HRM’s marquee outdoor venue for
the Halifax 2011 Canada Games from February 11th to 27th.
