Case of missing fisherman handed over to Halifax District RCMP

The case of a man who went missing while fishing on Thursday night has been handed over to Halifax District RCMP.

Reid Steward Patterson, 58, of Seaforth was sword fishing on a boat with two other people when he went missing at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday night. This happened approximately 48 kms southeast of Three Fathom Harbour.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Halifax reduced rescue efforts Friday night at 8:45 p.m., approximately 23 hours after responding to the call for help. The case has been handed over to Halifax District RCMP, and it is being treated as a missing persons case.
