Chain of Lakes and Beechville, Lakeside, Timberlea Trails – Construction Update

Friday, June 27, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Dexter Construction, on behalf of Halifax Water, is undertaking construction activity along the BLT and Chain of Lakes trails related to the Lakeside Pump Station Diversion Project.

Friday, June 27, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Dexter Construction, on behalf of Halifax Water, is undertaking construction activity along the BLT and Chain of Lakes trails related to the Lakeside Pump Station Diversion Project.

This work requires the closure of sections of the trail to allow construction activity to take place. The open and disrupted sections are as follows:

• Commencing at about 5 p.m. today, June 27, the trail section between Raines Mill Road and Chain Lake Drive will reopen for use. Trail users should note there is a temporary gravel surface in place, and some landscaping activity will be underway. Paving will take place at a later date. Please use caution.

• Commencing at about 5 p.m. today, June 27, the trail section between Lakeside Park Drive and Chain Lake Drive will reopen for use. Trail users should note there is a temporary gravel surface in place, and some landscaping activity will be underway. Paving will take place at a later date. Please use caution.

• Commencing at about 5 p.m. today, June 27, the trail section between Springvale Avenue and the Ashburn Golf Course will reopen for use. Trail users should note there is a temporary gravel surface in place, and some landscaping activity will be underway. Paving will take place at a later date. Please use caution.

• The Chain of Lakes Trail is CLOSED from Brook Street to Springvale Avenue until July 23. A bypass detour route has been established over this section.

• The Chain of Lakes Trail CLOSED from Chain Lake Drive to Brook Street until Sept. 8 due to time of year work restrictions within the sensitive watershed section. Unfortunately, trail detours were not possible for this section. Based on the current accelerated project progress, it is anticipated that some sections of the trail presently closed could reopen ahead of the scheduled dates noted above.
