Chair Causes 4 Car Smash-Em-Up On The Bi-Hi

Let this be a lesson for us all: Strap down your cargo.  A wayward chair on the highway caused quite the accident on the Bicentennial Highway Sunday afternoon.

From Halifax Police:

“Units responded to a 4 car accident on the 102 inbound between Bayers Lake and the 103 exit just after 1pm.

A large chair being transported on the back of a pick-up truck fell off onto the roadway. Vehicles attempted to swerve to avoid contact with the chair and ended up hitting each other in the process.

Three adults were transported to the QE11 with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle carrying the chair stopped at the scene and was ticketed for failing to properly secure a load.

The highway was closed inbound for approximately 2 hours while the debris was cleared and measurements taken.”
