Change to Executive Council

Premier Stephen McNeil announced a change to the Executive Council (cabinet) today, April 24.

Gordon Wilson, MLA for Clare-Digby, joins the cabinet as Minister of Environment.

“Mr. Wilson is a dedicated, hard-working legislator,” said Premier McNeil. “I’m very pleased to have him join the Executive Council and I look forward to him serving Nova Scotians in his new role.”

Margaret Miller is leaving cabinet to focus on her constituency work while recovering from a recent arm surgery.

“Ms. Miller has provided a valuable, compassionate voice around the cabinet table and I am proud to also call her a friend,” said Premier McNeil. “I thank her for service to Nova Scotians as a cabinet minister, and I know she’ll remain a valuable contributor to the government caucus as she serves out her term as an MLA.”

Ms. Miller, MLA for Hants East, has previously announced she will not re-offer in the next election.

Mr. Wilson’s appointment is effective immediately.
