Changes to Senior Officials’ Assignments

Premier Stephen McNeil announced changes today, June 29, to several senior officials’ assignments.

Jeannine Lagassé, currently secretary to Executive Council, is promoted to become associate deputy minister of Health and Wellness. Ms. Lagassé has held several senior roles with Executive Council and Treasury and Policy Board Offices and has served several departments as a Department of Justice lawyer.

Tracey Barbrick will become associate deputy minister of Labour and Advanced Education. As the associate deputy minister of Health and Wellness, Ms. Barbrick was instrumental in the transition to one health authority. She began her government career in 2000 at the former Department of Environment and Labour and has held several progressive positions since then.

Lora MacEachern will become the first associate deputy minister at the Department of Justice. She has been the associate deputy at Labour and Advanced Education for the past four years, and has served as senior executive director of the Safety Branch in that department. A practicing member of the bar, she began her public service career in 1997 as a lawyer, serving as legal advisor to several government departments.

“We are fortunate to have talented leaders in government like these three women,” said the premier. “They will continue to help us develop a strong and engaged public service and bring valuable skills and experience to the table that will help advance the priorities of Nova Scotians.”

The appointments are effective July 10th.
