Officers have arrested a man in relation to a robbery that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

 

On July 8, at 6:25 a.m., officers responded to the Needs Convenience store at 70 Lacewood Drive after a man entered the business, motioned he had a weapon and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot down Lacewood Drive with lottery tickets. No weapon was seen and no one was hurt. The suspect was described as a black man in his thirties, 5’6” and 160 lbs. with a slim build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black jeans and a dark hoodie covering his head.

 

At 5:45 p.m., officers assigned to the West Quick Response Unit returned to the store to follow up on the robbery. While they were in the store, a man entered and attempted to exchange unused lottery tickets for cash. The tickets were quickly identified as being some of the lottery tickets stolen earlier in the day. The 31-year-old Halifax man was arrested for possession of stolen goods and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on August 12.

 

The robbery investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid. Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact police at 490-5016.
