Charges Laid in Assault from Last Year

Investigators assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section (GIS) have laid charges in connection with an assault that took place last year in Halifax.
 
On September 6 at 9:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon on Davison Street in Halifax. A group of people approached a man and woman and asked if they had a light. One of the males in the group began assaulting the man and struck him with a metal pole resulting in a serious cut to the victim’s hand. The group went through the victim’s pockets prior to fleeing the area.
 
As a result of on-going efforts by investigators, a suspect was identified and beat officers arrested him on Saturday night.
 
An 18-year-old man faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. His name cannot be released because he was 17-year-old at the time of the incident. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court today.
