Officers have charged a man in connection with the assault with a weapon that occurred this morning in Halifax.
At 6:18 a.m., police responded to an assault in progress at a residence in the 6200 block of North Street. Officers received information that two men known to each other were in a physical altercation and a weapon may have been used. The 54-year-old male victim, who was stabbed during the incident, was taken to hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries.
Through the course of the investigation, which was conducted by Patrol Officers, it was determined that the suspect unlawfully entered the victim’s residence and assaulted and then stabbed him.
The 42-year-old Halifax man who was arrested at the scene without incident remains in police custody at this time. He will face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, break and enter, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
