Update: charges laid in sexual assault from March
Members of the Sexual Assault Investigative Team of the Integrated Criminal Investigative Division have charged a man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in March in a Bedford store.
Just before 6:30 p.m. on March 18, a man approached a woman in her 50s who was shopping at Walmart located at 141 Damascus Road. He initially walked behind the woman and brushed against her as he passed by. A short time later, the same man again approached her and touched her in a sexual manner over her clothing. The woman yelled and the man ran away. She reported the incident to a store employee and then called police.
At 1:45 p.m. on April 19, a 25-year-old Halifax man turned himself in at Police Headquarters. The man was arrested but later released without charges. The investigation into this matter continued, and on June 21, the same man attended headquarters and was served paperwork to appear in court on August 8. Brian James MacDonald faced one charge of sexual assault and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court again on September 7.
