Clarification of a news story related to a community survey

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) would like to provide a clarification further to the CBC story from this morning, “Halifax police want to know how much confidence citizens have in them.”

The story may have left the impression that a community survey has been finalized by HRP. We would like to note that the survey the CBC story referenced is a standardized version that was done as part of a research project involving various national partners.

The only connection to HRP at this time is that one of the researchers is an employee of HRP. We would like to confirm that the community survey is still under consideration and the final topics and questions are yet to be drafted.

The final survey will incorporate feedback from various stakeholders including the Board of Police Commissioners and our partners in policing, RCMP.

We will also take community input into consideration before finalizing the topics and the questions.
