Clever Sun Protection With Jane Iredale

If you don’t know about dry sunscreen I’m here to blow your mind. When it comes to being out and about in the sun the last thing you want to do is put something slippery and slimy on your skin (especially your face), and so having a dry sunscreen powder is pretty much the best invention ever.
And just in time for National Skin Cancer awareness month I’m here to educate you about some really great sun protective products that you won’t even notice you’re wearing!
The folks at Jane Iredale really have got convenient sun protection figured out! There are so SO many clever products that help prevent sun damage, and feel SO amazing on your skin I was pretty excited to give some of them a test drive while I was in Mexico.

I toted along with me: the Powder-Me SPF Dry Sunscreen (AMAZING product), Refill-Me Refillable Loose Powder Brush (perfect for the beach and pool), Tantasia Self Tanner & Bronzer (perfect for hiding a bad sunscreen application, and the Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion.

Comes in translucent (this is the one I tried), golden or tanned, and is a chemical free sunscreen that can be applied to the face and body. Broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 UVB/UVA, water resistant for 40 minutes, and can also be used on sunburn to help soothe inflammation. So cool right?
    THE VERDICT: BUY

I adored this product! Honestly I think it’s probably the coolest thing I‘ve discovered in a while. Especially given that I was standing in a wedding on the beach in Mexico the last thing I wanted to do is rub greasy sunscreen all over my picture perfect makeup (which I applied myself I might add)

The dry sunscreen (which is basically a translucent powder) effortlessly applies on top of your makeup and provides you SPF 30, and is water resistant! I mean come on?! How cool is this?

Before heading out to ceremony I dusted this product on all the girls (some of which have super sensitive skin), and everyone was flawlessly protected from the sun.

    Refill-Me Refillable Loose Powder Brush

I also loved pairing the dry sunscreen with the Refill-Me Refillable Loose Powder Brush for the days at the pool and the beach. When you’re out and about (and you’re sweating or you’ve been in the ocean) the last thing you want to do is use your clean sponge to apply your dry sunscreen. I don’t know about you blog reader, but I’m a little OCD when it comes to applying my makeup, and I like to keep my brushes clean (as much as possible). I loved having the refill brush because I could easily dust on some dry sunscreen powder while not having to dirty up the dry sunscreen sponge I used everyday.
THE VERDICT: If you’re going on vacation, or you’re on the go (heading to the beach a lot) you should definitely buy the refill brush. It’s super convenient, and great for touch ups!
    Tantasia Self Tanner & Bronzer
When you’re on a beach vacation it’s REALLY easy to miss some spots with your sunscreen, and so you can end up with some funny looking tan lines (or burns) if you’re not careful.
The Tantasia Self Tanner & Bronzer product is a tinted formula that provides instant bronzing (so no need to wash off). You can also blend it with your foundation to add a tint, or you can wear it alone as a tinted moisturizer to give you a boost. I wear A LOT of sunscreen on my face, so my face rarely ever matches my actual body this is a great product to blend everything together for a seamless sun kissed look.
To help blend out the mishaps from the days prior (or even to get ready for a vacation) I used the Tantasia Self Tanner & Bronzer product on a lot of the girls I was traveling with to help blend out their sunburns, or even just to add a little color to them (stay tuned for some photos from the wedding).

The Tantasia Self Tanner & Bronzer is great for applying to the face. I’m SUPER weary about using self tanning products on my face (even when they say it’s okay). I agreed to review this product only because I trusted that the Jane Iredale line wouldn’t break me out. I honestly love all their products, and this one was no different.

What I loved about this product:

    The smell (smelled SO good)
    Boosts skin’s natural defense
    Vegetable-sourced natural Silicone
Sensitive formula makes it ideal for use on face and body
Applied easily and had a great finish

VERDICT: If you need something to add a slight color to your face or body that won’t break you out! This product is for you.

Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion

A great product to toss on with the Tantasia self tanner is the Golden Shimmer Face and Body lotion. “Infused with minerals that capture, diffuse and soften light creating a subtle veil of shimmer designed to warm and smooth the complexion”. The natural formula rejuvenates and hydrates with botanical extracts, so it is gentle enough to be used on the face or body. Wear it alone or pair it with your favorite makeup!

Our products use only the finest ingredients, in Golden Shimmer the glorious shimmer you get comes from diamond dust, a unique mineral pigment derived from mica. In order to keep your skin soft and cool elderflower and blackberry extracts were added to the formula. In addition, green and white tea extracts (antioxidants) were added to protect the skin from environmental damage.

I loved applying this product on my shoulders and collar bones for our days out in the sun (would catch light), and then of course at night when we were going out for dinner and attending (or staring in my case) the evening performances put on by our resort. It’s a great addition to your glow! I wouldn’t say that it’s a NEED to have product, but it is nice if you like to have a little sparkle.

    LipDrink SPF Lip Balm

When we are applying sunscreen like crazy we tend to forget about our lips, but did you know that the skin around your lips is some of the thinnest skin on your body? Making this area extremely vulnerable to sun damage (and ultimately skin cancer)? While you’re applying your sunscreen your shoulders, back, and chest are obvious places you need protection, but you really don’t want to forget your nose, ears, or your lips either, as these are some of the most common places that people get skin cancer.

A lot of sunscreen lip balms can have a really yucky taste to them, but the Jane Iredale SPF lip drink was great, and it really did have a “soothing” affect. I felt extremely protected, and it went on clear, so you would never know I was wearing anything. This little guy was a major go-to for my pool and beach days! I never left the room without it.

    VERDICT: BUY

Hope you found this review helpful! Whether you’re heading out for a vacation or just gearing up for summer I would highly recommend you check out some of Jane Iredale‘s products. Some other one’s you could try is the hydration sprays, and their mineral foundations! Stay tuned for more posts from my trip to Mexico coming soon!
