Colchester County RCMP investigate suspicious fire, Green Creek, N.S.

Colchester County RCMP are investigating a suspicious structure fire that destroyed two buildings at Fundy Compost. At around 7 a.m. this morning, RCMP was asked to attend the scene of two large buildings on fire on Pleasant Valley Road.

At around 7 a.m. this morning, RCMP was asked to attend the scene of two large buildings on fire on Pleasant Valley Road.

When RCMP arrived, Brookfield Fire was on scene extinguishing the fires with mutual aid being provided by Hilden, Upper Stewiacke, Cobequid and Stewiacke Fire Services. The fire has been deemed to be suspicious. Subsequent investigation revealed that one company vehicle is missing from the business. The two buildings were destroyed and no serious injuries incurred; one of the responding fire fighters suffered minor injuries while putting out the fire but did not require hospital treatment.

The Fire Marshal’s Office have been called to assist with the investigation and are presently on scene with the RCMP; the investigation is continuing.

Colchester County RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a chocolate brown colored 2006 Chevrolet pick-up bearing NS plate COMPOST, the vehicle has ‘Fundy Compost’ written on both side doors as well as on the tail gate.
