At 3:19 p.m. yesterday, Colchester District RCMP, EHS paramedics and Tatamagouche Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 256.
A Mazda Protege had been traveling east when it left the road and became wedged between a ditch and embankment. The two occupants in the car were extracted by Tatamagouche Fire Department and EHS paramedics.
The driver, a 45-year-old male from Pictou County, was airlifted to the QEII hospital in Halifax by EHS Lifeflight with life threatening injuries. The passenger, a 55-year-old male from Pictou County, was transported to the Colchester East Hants Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Highway 256 was closed for six hours while an RCMP Collision Analyst examined the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
