Nova Scotians are getting a taste of local foods at community suppers around the province this winter.

The suppers in schools, church halls and community centres are open to the public and sponsored by Select Nova Scotia.

“We live in a province that offers families many opportunities to enjoy a variety of delicious local foods year round,” said Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell. “Enjoying local food, at community suppers such as these, supports not only local producers, but our local communities and Nova Scotia’s economy.”

The community suppers will raise consumer awareness about locally grown foods and help support a more competitive and profitable agriculture industry.

Select Nova Scotia was developed to create partnerships with food producers, processors, retailers, food service and consumers to promote the sale and consumption of Nova Scotia grown and produced food.
