Crash takes life of 21-year-old woman

Richmond County District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Hwy. 104 in Lower River Inhabitants.

On May 14, just before 6 p.m., Richmond County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Hwy. 104 in Lower River Inhabitants. Upon arrive at the scene, officers learned that a Chevrolet Cobalt had left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.

The driver and sole occupant of the Cobalt, a 21-year-old Chapel Island woman, had been ejected from the car and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the crash. The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.

Hwy. 104 was closed for several hours and has since reopened.

Our thoughts are with the woman’s loved ones as this difficult time.
