Dartmouth shooting, officers attacked, two drug busts

A very busy overnight report from Halifax Police.

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on a pathway between Regency Drive and Hasting Street in Dartmouth.

At approximately 1020 pm, police responded to a 911 call of gun shots being heard in the area of a pathway between Regency Drive and Hasting Street in Dartmouth. Upon arrival on scene police located a 33 year old Halifax male who had been shot.  The male victim was treated at the scene and taken to the QEII Hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment. His injuries are considered serious.

A suspect vehicle was observed leaving the area , with a male driver and male passenger.  The vehicle is described  as a black coloured SUV, with silver rims. (no further descriptors available)

Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigative Section are in the initial stages of their investigation and are asking anyone who has information about this shooting to contact 490-5016 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-888-222-TIPS (8477).

Police Officers Injured while attending a disturbance call

At approximately 10 pm,  police responded to a 911 call of a disturbance at a residence at the 20 block of Dundas Street in Dartmouth. Upon arrival on scene they were confronted by an irrate 31 year old Dartmouth man who attacked the two officers. A fight commenced as the officers attempted to calm down the male. One officer received injuries to her hand, plus bruises and cuts  to her head, the second officer received cuts to his arm and head. The male party also received minor injuries . The female officer and accused were treated at the Hospital and released.
The 31 year old male faces charges of Assaulting a Police Officer, and Bail Violations and is being held for court .

Police investigate street level drug trafficking

Halifax Regional Police  recognize  that crime and public safety impact the quality-of-life of our citizens, as a result continuous efforts are being made to deal with street level crimes.   At approximately 745 pm, Halifax Regional Police Detectives observed a drug transaction taking place on the street at Brunswick Street and Gerrish Street in Halifax. Two male suspects were arrested on scene without incident. A 30 year old Halifax man faces charges of trafficking in crack cocaine, he was released to attend court at a later date.

Halifax Regional Police Detectives,  at approximately 945 pm,  observed a street level drug deal  take place on School Street near Melrose Avenue in Halifax. Two males were arrested on scene without incident, one male had a baton concealed in his jacket. A 18 year old, Halifax male, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon,  trafficking in marihuana and perscription drugs, possession of cocaine as well as breach of probation charges. The second male faces possession of illegal drugs charges.  Both parties were released to attend court at a later date
