Diefenbunker Art

As promised, here are a few photos and videos from my trip to the Diefenbunker. I must say, even for someone who loves horror movies, this was a wee bit spooky. Dark hallways with peeling pant, the smell of oil, names scrawled hastily on doorways, and an abandoned bicycle all made it pretty darn creepy. I loved it. I wanted to get a bunch of people and play flashlight tag in the dark passages.

The artwork of Mitchell Wiebe was fantastic, bright, and a little menacing. It practically glowed and hummed right off the canvas. The paintings are tributes to his imagination… to create such vibrant, active pieces while living underground.
