Digby RCMP investigate two-vehicle collision, Digby, N.S.

Digby RCMP is investigating a collision that occurred on Highway 101.

Yesterday, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Digby RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision near Barton School. A Digby RCMP vehicle and a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck were travelling westbound on Hwy 101 when the collision occurred.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the marked police vehicle, while making a U-turn with emergency lights activated, was struck from behind.

The 26-year-old Digby RCMP officer and the 38-year-old female driver were the only occupants involved. The officer was taken to Digby General Hospital as a precaution and later released. The female driver was not injured.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. The matter is still under investigation.
