About 25 people showed up last night to talk with MP for Halifax West Geoff Regan on the issues of foreign aid.
The atmosphere was very relaxed in the Bedford United Church meeting room.
“Charity begins at home,” stated Regan. This is what a lot of people not keen on foreign aid usually say.
The conversation flowed freely after that, with the majority of those present supporting aid to other nations.
Members of KAIROS (Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives), the Red Cross, NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) and others were present to add their knowledge and wisdom to the discussion.
Regan listened attentively and took notes during the meeting.
