Driver charged after Highway 101 crash

July 9, 2013, Hants County, Nova Scotia . . . Windsor District RCMP have charged a man after the multi-vehicle crash near Exit 7.

Windsor RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 101 at Exit 7 involving 4 vehicles. A westbound tractor trailer truck struck a minivan causing it to collide with a motor home towing a car. The minivan and motor home had been stopped on the highway due to highway construction and were just starting to proceed westbound when the collision occurred. The 38-year-old female driver of the minivan and 3 children, a six-year-old male, an eight-year-old female and a three-year-old were transported to the Hants Community Hospital in Windsor. The six and eight-year-old were later transported to the IWK Hospital in Halifax with life threatening injuries. The male driver and female passenger of the motor home were uninjured.

The 59-year-old driver of the tractor trailer from Montreal was treated at the Hants West Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and charges are pending for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm and he will appear in court at a later date.
