Man Sprayed With Sensory Irritant

At 9:10 P.M. Tuesday, Halifax Regional Police officers responded to an altercation between two males at the corner of Bayers Rd. and Romans Ave.

When they arrived officers found one male lying on the ground requiring assistance as he had been sprayed in the face with some type of sensory irritant. The other male had already fled the area. The victim, a 52 year old male, was treated at the scene by EHS but did not need to go to the hospital. A short time later the suspect, a 21 year old male, was arrested but no weapon was located. The suspect is currently in police custody and will be attending Halifax Provincial court to face charges of assault with a weapon and violation of a court order. This incident was not a random act and the males were known to each other.
