Update 8am: RCMP confirm the male driver in the accident has passed away.

July 10, 2013, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . RCMP are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 207.

At 5:52 a.m., RCMP received a call of a two car collision near Lawrencetown Beach. A SUV collided head on with a car resulting in serious injuries. Two female occupants of the car were ejected from the vehicle. The male driver of the other vehicle was also injured. All three people were transported to hospital in Halifax.

Police are advising motorists to use alternate routes and avoid the area until further notice. A RCMP traffic analyst has been called in to assist with the investigation. The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours. There will be no vehicle traffic/access to Lawrencetown Beach on Highway 207.
