Driver ticketed after Barrington St crash

At approximately 5:05 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injury motor vehicle collision in the 3200 block of Barrington St in Halifax.  The investigation has revealed that a minivan being operated by a 32 year old female was left turning from a Barrington St address across traffic onto the Northbound Barrington St lane.  A transport truck being, being operated by a 35 year old man, was travelling Southbound on Barrington St.  As the minivan turned left across the Southbound traffic it was struck by the transport truck.  There were two young children that were passengers in the minivan, who were properly restrained in Child Safety Seats.   EHS paramedics attended the scene and transported the children to the IWK for assessment and treatment of non-life threatening injuries, they have since been discharged from hospital.  There were no injuries to the transport truck driver or the minivan driver.  Barrington St was closed to traffic for period of time but has since been reopened.  The driver of the minivan has been issued a Summary Offence ticket for Failing to yield when entering a highway contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act.
