On February 19th , 2016 at 4:30 pm A Halifax Regional Police Officer was on routine patrol in the Pleasant Street area of Dartmouth. The officer was operating a marked police vehicle and was travelling North on Pleasant Street heading towards the downtown area. As he was approaching Linden Lea a vehicle travelling South on Pleasant Street turned left in front of the police vehicle. The vehicles collided, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. The officer as well as several witnesses contacted the 911 Centre to report the collision. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the Dartmouth General Hospital to be examined, and were later released. As a result of the investigation the driver of the second vehicle, a 68 year old male from Dartmouth, was issued two summary offence tickets, one for operating an unregistered vehicle and one for failing to yield while making a left turn on a highway.
