Driver Ticketed after Vehicle / Pedestrian Accident on Ochterloney

At approximately 7:15 pm Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a van versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of Maple St and Ochterloney St in Dartmouth.  A 64 year old man was walking across Ochterloney St toward Maple St in a marked crosswalk.  A white van, operated by a 48 year old woman was turning Left from Maple St onto Ochterloney St where she struck the pedestrian.  The man was assessed by EHS paramedics and transported to the Dartmouth General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the van was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Marked Crosswalk and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act.
