Two women face charges after a drug search last night in Dartmouth.

At 10:40 p.m. officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit, assisted by the East Quick Response Unit, conducted a search of a residence on Jackson Road in Dartmouth. Prior to the search, one woman was arrested without incident when she arrived at the residence. A second woman confronted police while they were arresting the first woman and when officers attempted to arrest her she resisted and punched an officer. The male officer was not injured in the assault. The subsequent search resulted in a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana, morphine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded hand gun being seized.

Twenty-four-year-old-Sheiria Racine Smith and 25-year-old Lisa Erin Fraser face charges of drug trafficking and weapons related charges. Fraser faces additional charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer. Both women were scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
