Early morning assault with a firearm over the weekend

Police have charged a man with firearms offences in relation to an incident in Halifax on the weekend.

On May 28 at approximately 2:30 am officers responded to an assault that had just occurred in a residence on Castle Hill Drive in Halifax. A man threatened and assaulted another man who was known to him with a firearm. Officers arrested the man without incident, searched the residence and seized 5 firearms and ammunition.

Phillip Andrew Levy, 54, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

Assault
Uttering threats
Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
Pointing a firearm
Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
Careless use of a firearm
Unsafe storage of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x5)
Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized (x5)
