Emergency crews searching for missing woman, Baddeck, N.S.

Victoria County District RCMP are currently searching for a woman who went missing earlier today from a campground in Baddeck Inlet.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Victoria County District RCMP received a report of a missing woman from Quebec.

Preliminary investigation revealed the woman was last seen at 830 a.m. this morning.

Mariette Forest, 81, from Sherbrooke, Quebec, left the Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground to go for a hike on the Nature Trail. She is described as a white female, 5 feet tall, slightly built. She was wearing a checkered orange and black jacket, jeans and running shoes. She was also carrying a walking stick.

The RCMP Police Dog Services, the Cape Breton Ground Search and Rescue, Cheticamp Ground Search and Rescue, Department of Natural Resources and RCMP helicopter and vessel have joined the search.
Police are asking anyone with information on the location of Mariette Forest to contact them immediately at (902) 295-2350 or any police agency in Nova Scotia.
