Eskasoni RCMP are investigating an armed robbery that occurred earlier today.

At 1:10 a.m., Eskasoni RCMP were contacted about an armed robbery at a local business at closing time.

Members responded and further investigation revealed that a female employee was exiting the business when she was assaulted by a man using an unknown object. The suspect fled on foot.

A short time later, the suspect was located in the community and arrested.

The suspect remains in custody and the investigation continues.
