Essence 3D eyeshadows

I finally got around to swatch the Essence 3D eyeshadows from my Weekend finds a week or two ago.

As I mentioned, Canada gets 6 shades in this Spring release.
First row, from L-R: Irresistible First Love, Irresistible Purr-ple, Irresistible Mermaid Kiss.
Second row: Irresistible Caramel Cream, Irresistible Chocolates and Irresistible Smokey Eye.
A quick look on Essence website shows that they have 9 colours. We are missing Irresistible Green, Irresistible Blue Sky and Irresistible Vanilla Latte.

Here they are again, with the lids off 🙂 Six duo eyeshadows, left side has 3mm-high raised wavy designs that offer a 3d look in the pots, right side is flat. Sure is pretty to look at.
First off, these eyeshadows all have shimmers without a buttery soft texture. They are hard pressed eyeshadows, minimal fallouts. It took about three swipes of the brush to get the pigmentation you’ll see in swatches below.
Surprisingly, I prefer the colour combinations of those in the second row. The first row has more exciting and bright colours but pairing them with a silver or a lighter shade in the same family seems to be too safe of a choice.

Check out the swatches, first row first, to see my points. Note that the flash did bring out the shimmer effect a bit more.
Irresistible First Love and Irresistible Purr-ple both have a silver/ off white shade, just slightly different in finish. Main colour wise, Irresistible Purr-ple has a purple with visible teal fine shimmers, more unique among the bunch, vs. a baby pink in Irresistible First Love. Irresistible Purr-ple gets my vote for colours, and I’ll save Irresistible First Love for highlights.
Irresistible Mermaid Kiss is sadly a repeat, as the two shades are too close to make a difference. The left colour might have a bit more teal, but you won’t be able to tell on the lids.
The second row, same order.

Irresistible Caramel Cream is a safe neutral duo, a sheer white highlighter and a warm brown, good for everyday looks.
Irresistible Chocolates is a step up from Irresistible Caramel Cream, with daytime smokey looks type of effect. The highlight colour has a warm undertone, quite close to my skin tone. The darker brown has grey tint, swatches a bit patchy.
Irresistible Smokey Eye is the winner in my book, because of the intense black which has the best pigmentation with only two swipes. The grey needs some building up to show up nicely, but not too bad.
So, for colours, I would suggest Irresistible Purr-ple and Irresistible Smokey Eye. For neutrals, Irresistible Caramel Cream. These 3D eyeshadows get the look/ packaging right, just need some work on colour payoff, except the black.
