Ever wonder where all of the plants and flowers in city parks are grown? Take a tour of the city’s greenhouses

As part of our participation in “Year of the Garden”, the Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting the public to two Greenhouse Open Houses. These open houses will offer residents the opportunity to explore municipal greenhouses and gardeners will be available to answer questions. There will be limited plant giveaways (one per guest) while supplies last.

The Greenhouse Open Houses will take place at the Sackville Street Greenhouse (5711 Sackville Street, Halifax) on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Caledonia Road Greenhouse (62 Caledonia Road, Dartmouth), on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The year 2022 has been officially proclaimed the Year of the Garden and Saturday, June 18, 2022 as Garden Day as part of the Canadian Garden Council’s national celebration.

The municipality celebrates the contribution of gardens and gardening in communities throughout the region, which include positive impacts on quality of life, creating safe and healthy spaces for neighbours to come together, and helping the municipality reach its climate action goals.
