Fatal Collision – Police Seek Witnesses

Halifax Regional Police is releasing the name of the driver who was killed in a traffic collision last evening in Dartmouth and continue to seek witnesses to the incident.

At approximately 4:30 p.m.on June 24, Halifax Regional Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Main Street near Fader Street in Dartmouth. According to witnesses, the collision was head on as one vehicle was travelling west on Main Street and the other vehicle was travelling east on Main Street. There was one occupant in each vehicle. One of the drivers, a 17-year-old male, was taken to hospital for treatment and later released. The other driver, who has been identified as 71-year-old Wayne Webber of Dartmouth, was taken to hospital with very serious injuries and unfortunately passed away at the hospital. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

The investigation into this collision is ongoing. Investigators believe that there was a ’57 Chevy in the area at the time of the collision and would like to speak with the occupant(s). Police ask anyone else who might have been in the area at the time of the collision who has yet to speak with police to call 490-5020.
