Fire diverts United Airlines flight to Halifax Stanfield International Airport

At approximately 9:20 p.m. Tuesday evening, RCMP responded to a call regarding a fire onboard United Airlines Flight 999.  
At approximately 9:20 p.m. Tuesday evening, RCMP responded to a call regarding a fire onboard United Airlines Flight 999.  
The flight originated from New York and was destined to Europe.  While enroute to Europe a fire erupted in the galley of the plane.  The fire was extinguished by crew using a fire extinguisher on board the aircraft. 
 
There were 293 passengers and 13 crew members and no one was injured as a result of the fire.  Fire, EHS and RCMP were all dispatched when the plane was diverted to Halifax Stanfield International Airport.   The investigation is continuing.
