Following is a provincial fire update for Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m.
— there have been no significant changes to the fires and all four remain 100 per cent contained
— crews continue to dig out hot spots and extinguish flare ups at the fires at Seven Mile Lake, Annapolis Co. and Ten Mile Lake, Queens Co.
— the fires at Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co. and Perch Lake, Pictou Co. are still being patrolled, but there is no fire activity
— for the next few days, the section of Trunk 8 near Maitland Bridge, Annapolis Co., that has been closed since last week will open at 8 p.m. and close again at 8 a.m.
— travel restrictions remain in effect across mainland Nova Scotia and people are asked to continue to avoid any activity that could potentially cause more fires. As announced yesterday, Aug. 15, travel restrictions have been lifted for Cape Breton
