Update: Halifax Regional Police has charged an 18-year-old Lower Sackville man who will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday January 18 to face charges of attempted murder, careless use of a firearm and other weapons related offences. Through the course of the investigation, investigators have confirmed that this was not a random act, as the man and the 49-year-old male victim were known to one another.

GO# 16-8165 – Weapons call 

At approximately 4:55 p.m. on January 17, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report that shots had been fired at a vehicle and its occupants in the 3300 block of Federal Avenue in Halifax, stemming from a dispute that had occurred outside. Patrol and Emergency Response Team members responded to the area, located the scene of the shooting and arrested a man a short distance away. Officers also located the vehicle that had been shot at and the other person involved in the dispute. There were no injuries reported in this matter.
