Guysborough District RCMP have arrested five people after a vehicle was stolen in Sydney and then crashed in the community of Lochiel Lake last night.
At approximately 9 p.m.
last night, Guysborough RCMP received reports of a suspicious vehicle driving around the Sherbrooke area. While officers were responding to that call, they received another report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 7 in Lochiel Lake.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a minivan, which had been stolen from the Sydney area, had crashed into a ditch on Highway 7. Officers quickly located the stolen van and arrested four individuals at the scene. A fifth person was also arrested a short time later with the help of an RCMP Police Service Dog. None of the occupants of the vehicle were injured.
A 34-year-old male and a 30-year-old female from Sydney will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on September 18 to answer to the following charges:
34-year old male
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
– Breach of Undertaking x 2
– Breach of Probation x 2
30-year-old female
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
– Breach of Undertaking x 2
A 26-year-old male from Sydney will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court tomorrow to answer to the charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of Probation.
A 28-year-old female and a 17-year-old male youth from Sydney have both been charged with Possession of Property obtained by Crime. The 28-year-old female will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on November 18, 2015, while the 17-year-old will appear in court on November 25, 2015.
The investigation is continuing.
